Judith Mudd, CEO, of the British Sociological Association has broken the glass ceiling in the corporate world. After graduating from De Montfort University with a Bachelor's degree in History, she cut her teeth in business at BSA.
Mudd said, "The organization promotes sociology, and empowers sociology in Britain." She said the association was founded in 1951, and they have well over 2,500 members. The organization has sociologists from varied backgrounds, including research, teaching, students and practitioners.
"We are a well-respected organization," Mudd said, "We've been quietly progressing and reaching our goals within this institution." Mudd said BSA "provides a network of communities to all who are concerned with the promotion and use of sociology and sociological research."
Mudd plays a key role in making sure that the institution is running effectively. "I'm responsible for nine direct reports," She said. Mudd is a multi-tasker, she said. "I conduct meetings throughout London, working closely with key leaders and sociologists across the nation," she added: "My goal is to continue to grow the association."
She served with the association since 1995, initially as an Office Manager. Then from 1996 to 2000, she was promoted to Deputy Executive Officer. After serving 4 years in that position, she landed the CEO position. She currently belongs to the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary organizations.
