As a part of a SUV shootout competition, online auto information and retailer Cars.com chose the Chevy Equinox the best SUV for families. The shootout, a series of test drives by five auto reporters and celebrity car enthusiast Joey Lawrence with his family, tested about nine different midsized SUV's and crossovers across manufacturers. The cars, all around the $29,000 price point, were driven for three days each and subjected to daily family travel situations. The vehicles were judged on ride, room, family friendly features and handling.
