You are here: Business Legal-News Not Guilty Plea from Alleged Killer of 18-Year-Old
A teenager in Massachusetts accused of killing and disposing of the body of his ex-girlfriend in a marsh has been held without bail after a not-guilty plea to murder and assault charges. Nathanial Fujita was arraigned on Tuesday in Middlesex Superior Court more than seven weeks after he was arrested for the alleged murder of 18-year-old Lauren Astley.

According to CBS station WBZ, Astley was found with a wound to her throat and a bungee cord wrapped around her neck.

After conducting a search of Fujita’s house, police found blood on a door handle, the bathroom sink, the kitchen floor and the garage, as well as a bungee cord nearby. Investigators also found Fujita’s bloody clothes and shoes, which contained dirt consistent with being in a marsh.

The young woman was last seen at work on July 3. A cyclist discovered her body the next morning just a few miles away from her car.

Fujita is due back in court for a pre-trial conference, which will be held on September 22.
